Cotton and Other Fiber Crops Community
Cotton and other fiber crops represent important agricultural production systems that provide the global community with multi-use natural fibers. Cotton and other fiber crop production systems are supported by a large community of research scientists, extension professionals, and industrial professionals in the US and worldwide. Although these communities have a long history of communication and collaboration, an ASA sanctioned community will help enhance their interaction.
This community is focused on fostering communication among applied fiber crop research scientists and other professionals worldwide to further the science that supports modern production systems. Although cotton and other fiber crops exist in diverse cropping systems, the physiology, genetics, and transformation into industrial products of these unique crops require specialized research. The outlet for innovative applied research of community members shall be through peer reviewed publications, Extension publications, commercial materials, and the popular press and associated media. Community members shall strive to develop regional, national, and international projects to further their goals.
